In just a few days, I will graduate with my photography degree! Check out my final portfolio slideshow!
My final portfolio is due on Tuesday and I can’t even explain how happy/nervous/overwhelmed I feel to be so close to a degree! One of the hardest things about portfolios for me is limiting myself to only 10 photos. The photos below are a couple of my “honorable mentions.” This was my most recent session and it was extra special for me because this girl is one of my best friends. I have known her since 2nd grade and I never imagined that I’d be shooting her engagement pictures and even including one in my final photography portfolio. I’m so thankful for 15 years (and counting) of friendship. And I am so excited that I get to shoot their wedding soon!
With my final portfolio coming up, I asked my friend Charlotte if she could get her hands on one of her sisters’ wedding dresses for a shoot. A couple of days later, she bought a white, lace dress and it fit the exact style I was going for. I only paid $5 for all of the flowers and then arranged them for her bouquet. I was able to really get excited about this shoot and be creative. Also, it helps that Charlotte is one of the funniest human beings I’ve ever met. I had so much fun spending time with her while doing something I’m truly passionate about.
I hope you all had a wonderful fourth of July yesterday! My day started with a small town parade and ended with fireworks. There were hamburgers, watermelon, and long walks with family in between. It was a day to reconnect, refresh, and remember. I’m so grateful to the ones who have died for our freedom and the ones still serving. There is so much beauty in Old Glory and I hope we never get tired of what it stands for.
When you’re younger, summer is the best. No school, no responsibility, and lots of ice cream. So far, my summer has been the exact opposite: summer school, weddings/odd jobs, and…still lots of ice cream. I guess some things never change!
But even though I knew I’d be overwhelmingly busy, I was thrilled when an old friend from high school asked me to photograph his engagement photos and wedding! Last weekend I made the 12 hour journey from Georgia to Bellevue, Ohio, and everyone came together to pull off a cute, simple, outdoor wedding that fit them perfectly. Below is my favorite image from that day.
Yesterday I had a really fun time photographing this adorable couple. I think the only bad thing about the day was the temperature. Pretty sure it was at least 90 degrees when we started, but these two were troupers though we were all sweating buckets. So thankful for our friend Charlotte Stapp who was their personal stylist for the day. I was in love with the colors and the summer/boho feel to this engagement shoot!
After reading the article Making Important Things Urgent (which I rearranged to make my Oscar Wilde wordplay title above), I was encouraged to take my camera on my beach trip this past week. I had previously decided that I would leave it at home (it’s supposed to be a vacation, isn’t it?!), but I knew that if I wouldn’t snap photos, who would? I’m glad that I decided to take it because I was able to capture both candids and posed photos of my relatives as we hung out on the beach. The picture below is of my sister who proved to be one of the few who looked good with wind-blown hair. 🙂
I never thought that I (or anyone) would miss being an intern, but I have to admit that I definitely do. Not only was I learning so many new things every day, but I loved working with Aura Marzouk and her studio partner Mabyn Ludke. They’re so good at what they do and they have fun doing it!
Because I plan to go into the wedding business, I was excited to shoot a couple of weddings with Aura. She takes her job very seriously and goes above and beyond to make her pictures stand out above the rest. If you’re getting married in North Carolina and want gorgeous photos, you need to look into hiring her!
I’m so thankful that I was able to end up with an amazing internship experience because I know it’s not something that everyone gets to do. Here are a couple photos I shot at one of the weddings with Aura. “Like” my Facebook page and check out the rest there: https://www.facebook.com/aleecewhitephotography
